Input and output camshaft are adjusted via vane-type camshaft adjuster. Injection nozzle and spark plugs are screwed in, chanels have been milled open.
The hydraulic valve tappets are easy to see. In an external rotor, an internal rotor is rotated in a clockwise (early) or anti-clockwise (late) direction by oil pressure.
The internal rotor is kept in its rest position by springs. The oil channels in the shaft and in the rotor are easily recognisable. The solenoid coil for the control- early or late- has also been cutaway.
